We're happy to accommodate most allergies and food preferences. When you register, simply list any allergies or dietary preferences with your order. If you happen to select a meal that cannot be modified to meet your needs, our registered dietitian will reach out to you directly to coordinate an alternative. If you don't hear from anyone, you can feel confident that the meals you selected can be prepared according to your specifications.
We are unable to offer organic meals at this time. We currently do not offer keto-specific meals. However, all our nutrition facts are on our website under "Menu Options". If there are any menu items that don't fit the nutrient composition of your meal plan, we can look into omitting certain ingredients from your meals.
The specific instructions for each method can be found by scanning the QR code on each meal, or by finding the specified meal at https://www.citruspear.com/pages/our-meals. Simply take them out of the freezer and follow the instructions.
Typically not, however, there are a few meals that require it. Consult the cooking instructions for each meal for more info. Note that most cook times are from frozen, but the USDA does not recommend cooking frozen meat in a slow cooker, just like they don't recommend eating a medium steak. To get around this, you can either cook your meals in a pressure cooker, thaw them in the fridge the night before, or place them in the microwave for a few minutes before placing them in the slow cooker.
The amount of space needed varies depending on the size of your order. The average space needed is about 12"x12"x16" or less. You can also place parchment paper between bags to prevent them from sticking together in the freezer.
All meals can be cooked using a slow cooker or pressure cooker. A slow cooker maintains a constant low temperature to simmer your food slowly over a long period of time. A pressure cooker produces steam, which is trapped inside the pot to build pressure and cook your food extremely quickly. Some meals also have stove top, oven, and grill instructions. Follow the instruction cards and find the method that works best for you.
Our small meals are perfect for single adults and couples. Most can be cooked quickly on the stove top, in the oven, or in the pressure cooker. If you have growing children or multiple good eaters that go back for seconds, we recommend our medium meals.
Meals are measured, assembled, and ready to cook, however some additional assembly may be required after cooking.
We recommend using your meals within three months, regardless of freezer type. After that, the meals should still be safe to eat but the quality will decrease the longer the meals are stored.
Portion sizes, along with nutrition facts, can be found on the meal's label or by going to app.citruspear.com/menu.
We begin the process of assembling your meals soon after your order is placed. Due to this quick turnaround, your order generally cannot be modified after it is placed. However, contact Customer Service at contact@citruspear.com to see what changes can be made.
