Every Citrus Pear meal is now made with ingredients free of gluten, dairy, soy, sesame, peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, fish, shellfish, MSG, high fructose corn syrup, and seed oils. One menu, built for everyone at your table.
Ordering is simpler too: choose your meal size, choose your meals, choose your plan. The allergen selections you used to make are gone because they’re no longer needed; those ingredients are simply not in any meal.
“We’re proud to introduce the Citrus Pear Standard. Instead of our customers modifying their orders one meal at a time, the better answer was to build every recipe so those modifications are always present! In addition to the list of 12 ingredients that are always excluded, we’re putting in extra effort to bring your family higher quality dinners. For example, we make our own ketchup and enchilada sauce from scratch and we use a special soy-free sauce in place of tamari. That’s the new Citrus Pear Standard, and it applies to every meal we make.”

Citrus Pear Standard FAQs
What is the Citrus Pear Standard?
The Citrus Pear Standard was carefully crafted by our team with support from our Chief Nutrition Officer, a registered dietitian nutritionist. We learned from experience: for years, our kitchen hand-modified thousands of orders for gluten, dairy, nut, and other allergies. We took everything those families taught us and built it into every recipe. It’s our commitment that every meal we make is made with ingredients free of the 12 things families most want to avoid: gluten, dairy, soy, sesame, peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, fish, shellfish, MSG, high fructose corn syrup, and seed oils. It applies to every meal on every menu, so there’s nothing to request when you order.
Does Citrus Pear accommodate allergies?
Every meal is made to the Citrus Pear Standard: made with ingredients free of gluten, dairy, soy, sesame, peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, fish, shellfish, MSG, high fructose corn syrup, and seed oils. Our meals are prepared in a shared kitchen, and we cannot guarantee the complete absence of any allergen due to the potential for cross-contact. If you have a severe or life-threatening allergy, please contact us before ordering.
I used to select Gluten Free or Dairy Free when I ordered. Where did that go?
You don’t need it anymore. Those selections asked us to leave ingredients out of your meals one order at a time; now every meal is already free of them from the start. Ordering is three steps: choose your meal size, choose your meals, choose your plan.
Can I still ask for a modification?
No. We no longer modify individual meals, for allergens or for preferences. Every meal is made the same way for every customer so that every meal meets the Citrus Pear Standard. For mushrooms, onions, spice, and corn, use the filters on the menu page to skip meals that contain them.
What do the menu filters do?
There’s one set: Corn Free, Mushroom Free, Onion Free, and Not Spicy. Select a filter to hide meals that contain that ingredient (or some heat), so you can build an order from meals that work for your table. You won’t find gluten or dairy filters because you don’t need them; every meal on the menu already meets the Citrus Pear Standard.
What about mushrooms, onions, and spicy meals?
We don’t remove them, so we tell you up front. Every meal page lists whether a meal contains mushrooms, onions, or corn, and marks spicy meals with a 🌶. Most of our meals are mild, and our new recipes are being developed with fewer mushrooms and onions on purpose.
Is corn on the list?
No. Corn isn’t one of the nine major allergens, and true corn allergy is rare. A few meals contain corn, most often as a trace ingredient in the bouillon we use rather than as kernels. Any meal that contains corn says so on its meal page, and you can filter it out on the menu.
Are your meals gluten-free / dairy-free / nut-free?
Every meal is made with ingredients free of gluten, dairy, peanuts, and tree nuts (and the rest of the Citrus Pear Standard). Citrus Pear is not a certified gluten-free facility. Full ingredients and nutrition facts are on every meal page.
Some meals say “dairy optional at home.” What does that mean?
A few favorites, like Garlic Chicken, Cajun Chicken Pasta, and Marry Me Chicken, used to ship with parmesan or cream cheese in the recipe. They now ship without it so the meal meets the Citrus Pear Standard, and the instruction card tells you how to finish it: stir in cream cheese or top with parmesan if you like, or use the dairy-free option we list. Same meal, your call.
Did any meals go away?
Yes. A few meals couldn’t be made to the Citrus Pear Standard without becoming a different dish, so we retired them with the October menu. Everything else stays, several with better ingredients: we now make our own ketchup and enchilada sauce, and we replaced tamari with a soy-free sauce.
Did the price change?
No. Pricing, bundle savings, and subscription savings are the same.
I have a subscription. Do I need to do anything?
No. Any allergen preferences saved on your subscription are no longer needed, because every meal already meets the Citrus Pear Standard. You’ll still get your reminder email before each order to pick your meals; the filters work there too.
Is your kitchen certified?
No. Citrus Pear is not a certified gluten-free facility. The Citrus Pear Standard is an ingredient standard: it tells you what we don’t put in the food. We operate a shared kitchen with allergen controls in place.
Who decided what’s on the list?
Our registered dietitians, led by our Chief Nutrition Officer. The nine major allergens were the starting point; MSG, high fructose corn syrup, and seed oils were added because they’re the ingredients our customers most often told us they didn’t want.
